One Nation, Under God

1:23 PM

Just wanted to take a minute and wish y'all a Happy 4th! How blessed are we to live in such a wonderful country, where we can enjoy the many MANY freedoms that we have!

Taylor unfortunately had to work today, but he got off early and we were able to celebrate with the delicious taste of Tropical Smoothie (we're on a smoothie hype) as we watched The BFG (such a darling movie!) and ended the night with some firework watching on the beach in Fairhope (super romantic)!

I really enjoy this holiday because I feel that even though there are so many of us here celebrating in so many different places and in so many different ways, we are all united in purpose as a country. I think especially at this time of such evil and diversity, where we fear for this upcoming election and the future consequences of it's impeding results, where we watch, hear, and read about the many killings and violent acts across the nation, it is important for us to turn to GOD, and to each other, in unity. SO many times when we should rejoice in each other's different thoughts, opinions, ways of life (and celebrate the freedom we have to be able to ACTUALLY have different opinions), we have become angry and offended and have let these happenings and tragedies justify our opinions and tear us further apart from one another.

"Behold, this is a choice land, and whatsoever nation shall possess it shall be free from bondage and from captivity, and from all other nations under heaven, if they will but serve the God of the land, who is Jesus Christ, who hath been manifested by the things which we have written." Ether 2:12

I like this scripture because it lays it out flat and simple for us-if we serve God and do what He asks of us, America will be blessed. However, if you take a look at us as a whole, are we REALLY doing what He wants us to do? Killing. Scorning. Stealing. Lying. The world is becoming a more and more evil place with each passing day. And it's OUR fault.

I pray that we can learn to serve our Heavenly Father and be more Christlike towards one another, to treat each other with more love, compassion, and kindness. May we all recognize and respect one another's differences and celebrate them as a whole- as one nation, under God, and trust in Him wholeheartedly to continue blessing this great land.

Hope everyone celebrated safely and had a wonderful night. God Bless!
